Day 17 Lent Devotion “Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.” Proverbs 3:23 “As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.” Proverbs 27:17 “Do not be deceived: “Bad company corrupts good character.” 2 Corinthians 15:33 Choose friends with prayer, discernment and wisdom. “A worthless man digs up evil, and his speech is like a scorching fire. A perverse man spreads dissension, and a gossip divides close friends. A violent man entices his neighbor and leads him down a path that is not good.” Proverbs 16:27-29 Cutting ties is sometimes necessary. “Faithful are the wounds of a friend; profuse are the kisses of an enemy.” Proverbs 27:6 A friend speaks truth to you in love rather than tempt you with ideas and schemes. “Reject a divisive man after a first and second admonition,” Titus 3:10 Avoid conflict and arguments. “A man of too many friends comes to ruin, But there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.” Proverbs 18:24 “But what comes out of the mouth proceeds from the heart, and this defiles a person.” Matthew 15:18 As for ourselves first, but also our friends. “A righteous man is cautious in friendship, but the way of the wicked leads them astray.” Proverbs 12:26 “Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, O Lord, my rock and my redeemer.” Psalm 19:14 Lord, protect us from unholy relationships. Built up our strength in Your Word as we continue to press in so we are prepared to give an answer at the right time. “But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:” 1 Peter 3:15 “Jesus People” Danny Gokey https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sP4-aD4Y7DY Tweet
