Day 27 Lent Devotion

 

“Immediately after the tribulation of those days:

‘The sun will be darkened,

and the moon will not give its light;

the stars will fall from the sky,

and the powers of the heavens will be shaken.’

At that time

the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven,

and all the tribes of the earth will mourn.

They will see the Son of Man

coming on the clouds of heaven,

with power and great glory.

And He will send out His angels

with a loud trumpet call,

and they will gather His elect from the four winds,

from one end of the heavens to the other.”

Matthew 24:29-31

He is the reigning King and Jesus is returning.

“So Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many;

and he will appear a second time,

not to bear sin,

but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him.”

Hebrews 9:28

It will happen without warning.

“Therefore keep watch,

because you do not know the day

on which your Lord will come.”

Matthew 24:42

“For just as the lightning comes

from the east and flashes as far as the west,

so will be the coming of the Son of Man.”

Matthew 24:27

He tells us to keep ready.

“So keep watch at all times,

and pray that you may have the strength

to escape all that is about to happen

and to stand before the Son of Man.”

Luke 21:36

The world offers many distractions

that can keep our eyes off of being ready.

Jesus shares a Parable about readiness in Matthew 25.

“But while they were on their way to buy the oil,

the bridegroom arrived.

The virgins who were ready

went in with him to the wedding banquet.

And the door was shut.”

Matthew 25:10

“Repent of your sins

and turn to God,

for the Kingdom of Heaven is near.”

Matthew 3:2

“For this world is not our home;

we are looking forward

to our everlasting home in heaven.”

Hebrews 13:14

“And if I go and prepare a place for you,

I will come again and will take you to myself,

that where I am you may be also.”

John 14:3

“Behold, He is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see Him

— even those who pierced Him.

And all the tribes of the earth will mourn because of Him.

So shall it be! Amen. “
