Day 36 Lent Devotion

“So the great dragon was cast out,

that serpent of old,

called the Devil and Satan,

who deceives the whole world;

he was cast to the earth,

and his angels were cast out with him.

Then I heard a loud voice saying in heaven,

‘Now salvation, and strength,

and the kingdom of our God,

and the power of His Christ have come,

for the accuser of our brethren,

who accused them before our God

day and night,

has been cast down.

And they overcame him

by the blood of the Lamb

and by the word of their testimony,

and they did not love their lives to the death.’”

Revelation 12:11.

The accuser of our brethren, day and night.

Be careful of believing everything you hear.

The father of lies conceals his identity,

often as an angel of light.

Accusing us and others of things we have not done.

“Fear not, for I am with you;

be not dismayed, for I am your God.

I will strengthen you,

yes, I will help you,

I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.”

Isaiah 41:10.

David lamented over the acts of the wicked in the Psalms often.

His descriptions of their deeds

chilling to those who fear the Lord.

“They hold fast to their evil purpose;

they speak of hiding their snares.

“Who will see them?” they say.”

Psalm 64:5

But God always reminds us

of our authority in Him.

We do not succumb to the schemes of evil.

“Behold, I give you the authority

to trample on serpents and scorpions,

and over all the power of the enemy,

and nothing shall by any means hurt you.”

Luke 10:19.

So, we have no need to fear,

but to walk in faith

boldly trusting the King of kings for our deliverance.

“For God has not given us a spirit of fear,

but of power and of love and of a sound mind.”

  2 Timothy 1:7.

As the end draws nearer,

the enemy fights harder,

but the outcome was determined

long ago and will not change.

“What then shall we say to these things?

If God is for us, who can be against us?”

 Romans 8:31.

“There is therefore now no condemnation

for those who are in Christ Jesus.”

Romans 8:1

Lord, we rest in Your mighty arms in the midst of the battles, You have defeated our enemies and while the father of lies continues, we rest.
