Where to start?
Our new home is a blank slate. We won’t be moving in for several months. So now is a great time to really plan.
To measure for window treatments, select and install backsplash tile, paint, add a wallpaper here and there.
After spending hours looking at things and realizing I was not even going to have a post to publish, I just gave up and went back to looking at inspiration photos. The next thing I knew, my new house went to the dogs!
We love our dogs. We have had a lot of them over our marriage. Laska was the first, a rescue mix and so sweet. Then came Maggie, another rescue mix and equally sweet. Then came Bosco, a Pomeranian. I considered him a rescue because he was ON SALE, like clearance or reduced at the pet store. That’s when we went crazy and ended up with three dogs at once. Our children’s school was having a dinner and auction and I worked at the church that was connected to the school. My daughter was allowed to bring a little puppy over to show me. A buff cocker spaniel. My heart melted. Their wavy hair, big brown eyes and floppy ears. I was smitten. Buffy was her name. It’s been 3 years since Bosco and Buffy died but we had Buster left…our Japanese Chin.
Japanese Chins are a mix of Pug, Pekinese and Sir Charles Spaniel. Their personalities are the best ever. So after Bosco and Buffy passed away, Buster was very depressed and then entered Bebe (Belina is her formal name). She really stole my heart.
So here’s to all who share their home with these special companions.
Our dogs sleep in a bed that sits beneath a counter in our laundry room. Evidently we aren’t alone!
You can see where this is going?
I have windows to dress, tile to select and furniture to source but my first order of business is to get inspired to fashion a spot for our beloved chins in our new home.
Our cabinets are this same soft gray. I am in love with this space. That even looks like my washer and dryer! Although mine are not stacked. The thought of them stacked seems a little dangerous but a very good use of space. I wonder how difficult it would be to have water brought over to make a shower? I probably only have room on one side of my laundry room to do the stack and a slightly narrower bed.
I love how the doggy door is hidden and beautiful molding for the opening. This is gorgeous. The picture hanging in the cubby over the bench makes it so homey.
What a simple solution.
What do you think of this one? This I could save for our future home. I love having the sink and the hanging rack in the laundry and the bed looks perfect there.
Notice the bone details? Contrast color, just a bed snugged up inside the opening and the water bowl neatly out of the way from getting knocked over from passersby. Sweet!
Each with its own little room and yet tucked away and lovely. If you have the space, this is so nice. My dogs like to sleep together. They would not want the wall in between them.
This one is over the top! Dog furniture, Chandelier and big rooms, maybe this is actually a pampered pet resort.
So there you have it. Are you inspired to be a little more creative with the space you have for your dog?

Of course, I could go on and on. In fact, I did. I had this post filled with collars and clothes and doggy cams and travel gear. Then I realized maybe I should save it for another day.
