But before we go there, let’s look at where we have been.
You Got This (NOT!)
(this post contains affiliate links)
One of the biggest lessons learned in my first year of blogging was that there was so much more to learn. Truly, you can ask any blogger that has been at it for about 2 months. I think that is the moment that they have figured out how to set up their blog, add their social media, hook up their email account and learned the basics of picmonkey or canva. They are starting to put out posts and feeling like, “Hey, I got this!” then all of a sudden through networking with other bloggers they hear about Google Analytics, Tailwind, ConvertKit, Scheduling, Monetizing, SEO and I can go on and on and on. The next thing that happens is Blogger Overwhelm.
BTW, if you are new to blogging and need some resources that I recommend, you can find them here.
There are not enough hours in the day or money to watch every webinar, buy every course or book, let alone implement them. You start to feel like you are on that treadmill and it is running faster than you are and the inevitable is that you can see the handwriting on the wall and you are about to fall flat on your face.
I don’t want that to happen to you!
There are many things to talk about in regards to feeling overwhelmed but my focus today is on getting education, motivation and inspiration while you are on the go, exercising, or cleaning the house, waiting in an office and getting it for free.
I am talking Podcasts
This was one of my goals for this year because while I wanted to listen to Podcasts last year, I was still running on that treadmill myself thinking how am I ever going to get everything done that needs to be done. I found it difficult to find podcasts of people I knew were doing them. I also have rarely used my phone for anything other than talking and texting.
Last week I got a new car and it just kind of pushed me like the New Year pushes us to try or start new things. I drive about 20 -25 thousand miles a year and that is a lot of listening time. I plugged in that phone and boom! suddenly I had a friendly voice talking to me through the miles and teaching, inspiring and motivating me.
I also started going to the gym this year. This is a big deal for me. You can read more about that here. At the gym, I decided to bring earbuds and my phone and walk the track. Never mind that I got a cool wireless headset for Christmas that I haven’t started using yet (but that’s another story). How great it was to listen to something that again made the time go fast and brought valuable information to me, instead of concentrating on the continuous circle I walked.
The only thing I don’t like about Podcasts is that I am usually busy when I am listening and cannot take notes, but most of them have program notes or complete transcripts on line so you can find the resources they might have been speaking about.
I am going to share some of the gems I have been listening to and found to be very helpful.
Podcast #1 Off the Charts with Nathalie Lussier
Nathalie is a software engineer and digital strategist. She also has fairly short podcasts that are to the point. Nathalie’s credentials are what are Off the Charts. Building web sites since she was 12, blogging for over 10 years and press that looks like the guide on my cable network, well she has experience with results.
With plug-ins, software, B-school and so much more to offer, Nathalie could be your focus for one year to glean information from. Because much of her content is for bloggers who are on to the next stage, like product producing, I selected a podcast that is for someone at any level which is about Nurturing your Creativity.
Did you subscribe? What did you like best on her site?
Podcast #2 All Up in Your Lady Business with Jessica and Jaclyn
Jaclyn is a young mom blogger at Chasing Dreams and Littles (which looks like it is down for a remodel) . She is also an Instagram Strategist. Jessica is a marketing and web designer for Eden House Media. Together they bring laughter, light and great insight to blogging entrepreneurs through podcasts.
I love so many of their podcasts it is difficult to select just one. But because I am in the middle of this project myself, I really wanted to bring you their DIYing Brand Photos podcast. They offer a Facebook Group for Lady Business owners to join that is free and filled with tips and community.
What did you think? I can’t wait to hear what you liked best about these great podcasts.
Podcast # 3 Kate’s Take Audio Blog
Sometimes there are no words to describe someone’s presence on the internet. I can only tell you if you are not familiar with Entrepreneur On Fire, you need to check it out. Free Webinars on many subjects are available. Years of content archived. And Kate! I like her take on things and while the Podcasts section of the website are from a team of contributors, the blog site is all Kate’s Take in Audio.
Again, don’t get intimidated. Looking at the income for the month can either ignite your dreams or give you the little “I might as well quit” thought. I say look at their beginning. Growth takes time and it is truly the entrepreneurs that stick with it that get to see the compounding growth that happens on the internet.
Podcast #4 I Teach Blogging by Renee Groskreutz
Once I discovered how to find and listen to podcasts, I have really done a lot of searching for people who have a lot to share. I stumbled upon Renee and found that she has a huge amount of great content both on her blog and in her podcast. The blog is definitely filled with everything from just starting to blog to just learning everything from time management to SEO. No one teaches exactly the same nor do they have strengths in the same areas so it is good to have several blogging experts that you routinely listen to to get updates and continue your blogging education.
Renee’s podcast style is typically just her. They are also short, 15 minutes or less. So while I am walking or driving, I prefer to listen to the ones that are about 30 minutes or longer. However, when you have just a few minutes on your hands and you want to keep busy, this is the time for Renee. She gets right to the point. You may wonder why bother with such a small time but I hate being in the middle of a long one and then having to shut it down and move on to something else. Usually if that happens, I tend to start at the beginning again to stay on track with the conversation.
Renee has so much on the site, I could hardly choose. I want to learn it all. Good thing is, it will be there tomorrow and the day after as well! I decided to grab the latest on Getting the Most out of your Blog. Enjoy the show!
Podcast #5 Influencer Entrepreneurs with Jenny Melrose
Jenny is brand new to this site. Her blog launched in August of 2016 but I believe she has been a lifestyle blogger prior. She replaced her income from her job as a reading specialist with the income of her blog and now wants to help bloggers grow, work with brands, manage time and more. There are blog posts mixed in with podcasts on this site and they are all packed with great info. Jenny also hosts a Influencer Entrepreneur Facebook Group that is free to join.
I am excited to discover someone new and support them as they grow.
Podcast #6 Amy Porterfield
This is not my first rodeo when it comes to blogging. In my previous attempts I didn’t really make it around the game board at all. I got lost, over my head and did not know how to even find the resources. However, I did discover Amy. This was back when she was blogging only. Now it appears that her blog is actually what her podcasts are so, yay! Another woman who has pioneered the blogging world that I can now listen to when I am doing things like driving, cleaning or exercising. You can find her at Amy Portfield.
Amy is also not geared to the beginning blogger in my view. She is equipping those who are going for it by teaching on webinars, courses, video and marketing in general. Rich content to be certain. I selected this particular podcast because of how I started this post today on the subject of Overwhelm.
Podcast #7 Brand Ambition with Valerie Howard
I am continually amazed that there are so many super successful women in the blogging world. It makes me happy to realize there is always room for another. Amy is a branding and marketing specialist and her desire is to have entrepreneurs share their gifts to the world while being themselves.
Her blog Valerie Howard seems to be under construction since some pages do not have anything in them. However if you go to your Podcasts in the App Store you can search Brand Ambition there and find lots of great podcasts to listen to.
Podcast #8 Brilliant Business Moms with Beth Anne
Another podcast that is new! Sort of. The last show was in March of 2016 and after a long break and a change in who is involved, Beth Anne returns to the scene with interview style podcasting about life as a Mom Entrepreneur. Her style is sweet and enjoyable and though there are times that some of the content is geared more to a young mom which I am not, overall, I gain knowledge that is valuable to me as a fairly young blogger…not a young person.
Here is one of the recent podcasts on using webinars to grow your business. So many resources to offer, I love this one on pin strategy.
Podcast #9 Simple Pin Podcast with Kate Ahl
Kate is easy to listen to and found at Simple Pin Media. Every time I listen I find “nuggets of gold” that I have to write down so I can implement them. For me, as someone who is still in the beginning growth of a blog, I get amazed at the numbers some of her clients have. However, her advice, strategies and tips are for every blogger at every level.
I wanted to select one podcast from each of my favorites to get you started on your Podcast Library. This one is the story of how Simple Pin got started. Podcast.
Kate teaches using affiliates with your pins, scheduling, traffic and much, much more. She also offers a 2017 Pin Planner guide FREE.
I hope you subscribe and would love to hear what you think of her podcast series.
Podcast #10 Blog Fuel with Kirsten Thompson from Sweet Tea, LLC
Kirsten is someone I found early in my blogging as she was in a video interview with Abby Lawson in her amazing book Building a Framework. Kirsten gives tons of free info in her blog and in her Facebook Group. After blogging for years, she started a business Sweet Tea, LLC in December of 2016 to bring bloggers education and encouragement.
Kirsten has a laid back way of talking but not approaching things. She launched this podcast in the Summer of 2016 along with her membership group, The Mason Jar, about the same time. You will not walk away thinking “that was a waste of time.” In fact I would imagine you will want to subscribe.
Here is a sample of one of her podcasts from this past year on Building a Thriving Online Community.
There you have it! There are many more and a lot of well known podcasts by men. But when there were so many amazing women out there, I just decided why not?
I hope that you find someone in here that is new to you. I also hope that you find a way to incorporate podcasts into your day or week and find the tremendous amount of free information an excellent resource for you as you go after your dreams!
I would love to read your comments, if you like this, Please Share!
I love the simple pin podcast and have been looking for more! Love this list. I’m looking forward to trying some of these. Punnining!
There are far more than this, but I didn’t want to cause more Overwhelm! 🙂
Lol, yes I have to fight the overwhelm often. And in my previous comment I meant to say Pinning! Posted from my phone and autocorrect did something funny.

I have to admit Rachael, though I was doing really well with Overwhelm, after writing this post – I feel back into it for a moment. I am in awe at the talent and drive of so many bloggers!
This is a really great list Debbie. I have listened to BBM and Simple Pin and they are both worth a listen. A couple of these are new to me. I will check them out.
Thank you Lisa. It is such a convenience to be able to learn in a different method than reading or watching a webinar and I hate to waste time when I am doing an activity like that.
There are some great options here! Some are already on my list that I listen to daily but there are others that I will definitely be checking out. I also listen to So Money by Farnoosh Tarabi. It’s not necessarily blogging related but money is always something on people’s minds. I really enjoy it. I just discovered Off the Charts Business Podcast and I am glad that I did.
Thanks for sharing these!!
You are welcome Kristy. I agree that we don’t need to listen to blogging only. I think a lot of these may be geared to women entrepreneurs in business and marketing the biz. Also I listen to Blissful Bites! But I had to stop at 10 🙂
I LOVE listening to podcasts! Some of these are new to me so I’m off to check them out right now! Thanks for sharing!

You are welcome Ann, do you have any by women that you recommend?
Hi Debbie: I don’t think anything could prevent me from blogging. It exciting because blogland is constantly changing . I am not deterred by the information I need to learn but by the speed I need to do it by. I hear people say they write a blog post in 45 minutes aak..it takes me that long to do all the SEO stuff I am just starting to be aware of.
I think a pod cast will be a nice break from constant reading. I am pinning this. Thanks for sharing.
I agree Leanna! This is a world in itself and so full of wonder if you like that sort of thing and we certainly do. I would love to hear if you enjoy anyone in particular once you start listening.
This list is so timely! My husband loves listening to podcasts, but he’s in law enforcement and listens to that sort of thing plus fitness podcasts… not exactly my interests. LOL Bookmarked this to pull up on my iPad while I cook later. THANK YOU!
Donella recently posted…Jumping Bean Phonics Game for Kindergartners
Hope you like it, I am actually going to update it this week and add Blissful Bites to it. This is from a woman who runs a food business but her podcast is about any business building for women.
